Finance Director - City of Marshfield

Position Summary: 

The Finance Director position is required to perform the State of Wisconsin statutory duties & responsibilities of both Comptroller and Treasurer for the City. The most important impact of this position on the organization overall is financial management for the City. Efficient financial management allows the City to provide services expected by citizens and regulatory agencies, construct and maintain public infrastructure and provide support of economic development efforts for the community. Sound financial management ensures the highest level of accountability possible with available resources utilizing effective internal controls and procedures to ensure the highest level of accountability to citizens, elected officials and regulatory agencies.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.  Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

6 – 8 years of experience in governmental accounting and/or comptroller experience is required.

Certification/Licenses:

Current license or accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Public Finance Officer, or Certified Government Finance Manager is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of various software programs including Microsoft Word Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.  Ability to import/export data from a wide variety of software programs to develop reports and analyses.  Experience using computer software including financial, budgeting, and report writing software.  Ability to effectively use office equipment such as calculator, computer, telephone, and multi-function machine.  Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.  Ability to perform in an active work environment and handle multiple tasks in an organized and effective manner.

 

Pay & Benefits: 

Pay range:  $45.68 (min) - $50.75 (mid).     The City offers a full benefits package including health/vision, dental, long term disability, flexible spending accounts, 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, and WRS retirement plan.

A credit check will be required for this position.
